Air in the basket
Air pulling into the suction side — a cracked lid, a bad lid o-ring, or a loose union — keeps the pump from holding prime and starves circulation.
Single-speed swap-outs
California Title 20 requires variable-speed motors on most replacements now. We size and program the replacement to your pool, not just bolt on the cheapest unit.

A fresh bearing-and-seal rebuild makes sense on a newer wet end, but a motor that's seized, been run dry, or is past its service life is a replacement — and under California Title 20 that replacement is a variable-speed unit in almost every case.
