The warning signs

How to tell it's a leak and not just evaporation.

Dropping water level

More than ¼–½ in./day

Losing more than that a day, beyond what heat and wind explain, is the first sign.

A water bill that jumped

Without a clear reason

No new landscaping, no extra fill-ups — just a higher bill. Water's going somewhere.

Wet ground, weak prime

Deck, yard & equipment pad

Soggy soil near the shell or pad, or a pump that won't hold prime like it used to.

Cracks or stubborn algae

Plaster, tile & chemistry

Visible cracking, or algae that keeps returning even when the chemistry's dialed in.

Try the bucket test first

A simple way to confirm it's real before calling anyone:

  1. Fill a bucket with pool water, set it on a step at the pool's water level.
  2. Mark the line inside the bucket and outside on the pool edge.
  3. Run the pump normally and check both marks 24 hours later.
  4. Pool dropped more than the bucket? That's evidence of a real leak.

How we find it

Non-invasive, step by step.

1

Visual walkthrough

We check the shell, fittings, skimmers, main drain, tile line, deck, and equipment pad for anything obvious first.

2

Evaporation check

A bucket test or precise measurement rules out normal evaporation before going further.

3

Dye testing

A safe dye near suspected cracks, fittings, or lights gets pulled straight into an active leak.

4

Pressure testing

Suction, return, and cleaner lines isolated and pressurized to find a drop that points to a break.

5

Acoustic listening

Hydrophones and ground mics pinpoint the sound of escaping water — no digging required to find it.
